Vote on CCFF Dues Change

Dear Union Colleagues, In thirty days, on October 14, all CCFF members in good standing will be invited to vote on a change in the union’s rate of dues. The vote will be held electronically; you will receive an email via ElectionBuddy.com to your @cerritos.edu email address with instructions and a link to vote via the web. Proposal For part-time faculty, dues be increased by $1.59 tenthly in 2017-18, and an additional $1.59 tenthly in 2018-19. For full-time faculty, dues be increased by $5.75 tenthly in 2017-18, and an additional $5.75 tenthly in 2018-19. Paid Summer Office Hours

Are you teaching a summer class?  Full and part-time faculty are entitled to one paid office hour for each unit you are teaching in the summer.  For example, if you are teaching a 3-unit class you can be paid for up to three office hours during the summer session or 30 minutes a week for 6 weeks.  The same holds true if you are teaching a lab section.  If you are teaching your class online, your office hours can be online. Make sure you let the dean of your division know how many office hours you will be holding and when you will have them by Monday, May 15. All

Dept. Chair Elections, Compensation, and Assumption of Duties (Summer)

CCFF and the District are happy to share our recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding assumption of chair summer duties and compensation (see attached). The MOU addresses departments that have had elections this spring and their options for who will be the chair during the summer. For those department  with continuing chairs, it indicates options for summer chair work. In short, you should decide whether you would like to work over the summer or not and inform your division Dean by no later than Thursday, May 11th. Our next CCFF (Cerritos College Faculty Federation) meeting will be held in Social Sciences room 136 next Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 am. Please attend. We have many important items to discuss. Contract Approved by Membership, Trustees

The faculty of Cerritos College have spoken and the results are in: 285 voted YES to ratify the tentative agreement. 2 members voted NO. 287 members voted in total which accounts for 65% of the CCFF voting members who were sent ballots…. In solidarity during a most important moment of our history, Craig Breit CCFF Communications Chair TalonMarks reported on the sometimes contentious Board of Trustees meeting, where the contract was ultimately approved: For the Cerritos College Faculty Federation, months of solidarity sparked a domino effect that would ultimately lead the union to receive the negotiated contract agreement. CCFF Contract Ratification Vote

Faculty, As you know, the Union and District have reached tentative agreement on a successor collective bargaining agreement, to run from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018. Details of the tentative agreement are available for review.. The Union will conduct a contract ratification vote open to all members of CCFF in good standing (those who have paid dues). The ballot question shall be: “Should CCFF ratify the tentative agreement between CCFF and the District? Yes _____  No ____.” Ratification will be determined by a simple majority of ballots cast.
