Recap of Public E-Board Meeting (9.19.2017)

Hi All, To catch everyone up on the most recent Public Executive Board meeting from earlier this week, here is a quick summary of the highlights from the agenda items discussed. Membership During the summer, just before the Fall semester began, the union visited the two faculty orientations–one for new full-time faculty and another for new part-time faculty–to talk about the union’s role and purpose. Also, during this semester, executive board members of the union are beginning an outreach campaign with the goal of talking to 200 current members by mid-October. CCFF Update and Dues Increase

Hello Fellow Cerritos Faculty, I hope your fall semester has gotten off to a strong start! Looking ahead, your union representatives have been gearing up for another bout of negotiations and are optimistic about new wins for Cerritos College Faculty! At last year’s state-wide and national conventions, both the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) voted to increase the fees our union (as well as, other AFT/CFT locals) would contribute. Our next CCFF (Cerritos College Faculty Federation) meeting will be held in Social Sciences room 136 next Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 am. Please attend. We have many important items to discuss. 2017 Annual Meeting – Sat. February 25

We Have a Contract Because of You, Faculty

Contract Approved by Membership, Trustees

The faculty of Cerritos College have spoken and the results are in: 285 voted YES to ratify the tentative agreement. 2 members voted NO. 287 members voted in total which accounts for 65% of the CCFF voting members who were sent ballots…. In solidarity during a most important moment of our history, Craig Breit CCFF Communications Chair TalonMarks reported on the sometimes contentious Board of Trustees meeting, where the contract was ultimately approved: For the Cerritos College Faculty Federation, months of solidarity sparked a domino effect that would ultimately lead the union to receive the negotiated contract agreement. CCFF Contract Ratification Vote

Faculty, As you know, the Union and District have reached tentative agreement on a successor collective bargaining agreement, to run from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018. Details of the tentative agreement are available for review.. The Union will conduct a contract ratification vote open to all members of CCFF in good standing (those who have paid dues). The ballot question shall be: “Should CCFF ratify the tentative agreement between CCFF and the District? Yes _____  No ____.” Ratification will be determined by a simple majority of ballots cast.
