MEChA Commemorative March (Spr 18)

A Message from MEChA’s Co-Chair

Cesar Hernández

Buenas Tardes Professors,

M.E.Ch.A. de Cerritos College will be hosting it’s second annual reenactment of the March To Sacramento, led by Cesar Chavez in 1966, next week on Thursday, March 29th, at 2:00 pm. We will be walking throughout campus and gather at the Falcon Square Amphitheater where we will perform two speeches, one by Cesar Chavez, and one by Dolores Huerta. The purpose of the event is to highlight the work by Cesar Chavez, Dolores, Huerta, and the Hispanic and Filipino farm workers in their struggle to better working conditions and treatment.

As Cerritos College faculty who have demonstrated a desire to promote student engagement on campus, we would like to ask if it is possible for us to visit your classrooms next week to speak about our event. To make our announcement as quick as possible so as to take away the least amount of instruction time, our members have been practicing our pitch and will be handing out small flyers with our contact information should they have more questions.

We hope to be able to visit your classrooms and share this awesome event with our fellow peers. Thank you for all you do to enhance our educational experience!

In solidarity,

Cesar Hernández
