Hi All!
Come to the Board of
Trustees (BOT) Meeting (Wed, Nov 14) @6:30-7:30p
Trustees (BOT) Meeting (Wed, Nov 14) @6:30-7:30p
We are facing healthcare cuts, wage stagnation, and increasing demands on our workplace responsibilities. It’s issues such as these that make it essential for you to join your colleagues at the November 14th BOT meeting. Plan to come at 6:30p for the arrival of the board, and stay for open comment to support your colleagues. Be sure to spread the word and bring your fellow colleagues with you. Also, invite your students. Working conditions are teaching conditions are learning conditions. The November 14th meeting is a powerful educational tool for all disciplines.
Speak at the BOT Meeting
We are looking for speakers. Everyone has a story to share about health care, fair wages, and the need for a contract. If you would like to speak, contact Angela Hoppe-Nagao (anagao@cerritos.edu) or Kimberly Rosenfeld (krosenfeld@cerritos.edu) from the Speech Department and they will help you craft a 1-2 minute message designed to motivate the BOT to support faculty at this crucial time.
It is especially important that new and non-tenured faculty speak at the BOT meeting because current negotiations involve them and their future careers at Cerritos College. We have had non-tenured and part-time faculty speak at the BOT meetings. There is nothing to fear in attending or of speaking at the meeting. The only thing to fear is the unreasonable terms of the district’s offer and how it will affect future generations of Cerritos College employees.
The faculty need to send a decisive message to the Board of Trustees. This is the BIG ONE. Show up on Nov 14 at 6:30p at the Board Room. Be seen and be heard.
Friendly Competition
The division that has
the largest turnout at the BOT meeting will receive a complimentary breakfast at their December division meeting–compliments of the CCFF and the Speech Department.
