Winter Break (2018) – Things to Know

Our winter break runs from December 14 – January 13.

The CCFF office, like the campus, will be closed December 24 – January 1.

We will have reduced staffing during the break, so if you need assistance from the union during that time, please email CCFFLocal6215@gmail.com or  leave a message on our office phone: 562-467-5295. Both will be checked daily.  Do not delay in notifying us of something that you think could be a grievance. 

Please remember that if you are 10-month faculty you are off contract during the winter break.  If you are called into a meeting when you are off contract you can reschedule it when you are on contract again.  If you do want to attend a meeting during the break and you would like a union rep present, please email/leave a message and speak with a rep before you schedule the meeting with administration. Our office is staffed by executive board volunteers over the break. If you are on contract (11 or 12-month) and are not allowed to reschedule the meeting when a union rep can be present, go to the meeting, take notes, do not answer any questions but invoke your Weingarten Rights by stating:

“If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative be present at this meeting.  Without representation , I choose to not answer any questions.  This is my right under the 1975 Supreme Court Weingarten decision.”
